This Grand Queen of a golden rutilated quartz rose cut stone definitely had me at Hello! The rutile is a nest of short spiky strands of gold, very thick and reflective, with very little matrix. The stone is captured in a fine silver bezel then soldered to a backplate of recycled sterling silver. I added a little pile of silver discs and spheres just for fun, and soldered the backplate to a gently tapered roll printed band of recycled sterling. When I say recycled here, it means I melted down scrap silver and poured it into a flat ingot in order to be rolled/milled down to the correct thickness. It's a long process but I love knowing I truly made this statement ring from scratch. The ring wears incredibly comfortably for a large stoned ring. During the wear test, it did not rotate around the finger at all; she stayed in place in all her regal glory.
The stone measures 20 x 27 mm and fits a size 8-8.5 US.
